My body's getting old

So about a year ago playing frisbee some kid ran into my left knee, and the clinic physiscian said it probably was just a sprain so go easy on it. I continued playing on it and doing everything normally as best I could, all through being a summer intern at SMac and stuff.

Then about two months ago or so I turned awkwardly on my right knee playing flag football, and the clinic physician referred me to an orthopedic guy. I went for him to look at only my left knee. When he tested it a little bit he thought it was torn, but wanted to look at my left knee too for comparison cause some people just have loose joints I guess. Right away "When did you tear up this knee, too?" So he suggested an MRI on both knees.

The MRI was hilarious, I had to completely sit still for 45 minutes. For each knee. I like to wiggle when I have excess energy and I kept catching myslef. Just wiggling for no reason. Every time this happened made me want to laugh. But I can't laugh too hard because then I'd start moving around, but that just made me want to laugh harder but I couldn't or we'd have to start over. It was torture. An hour into it I fell asleep and jerked my whole body awake a couple times but evidently they were both during pauses or something.

A week later someone called, a receptionist I guess, and said I tore both my ACLs and MCLs. I'll probably have surgery, ideally one knee during Winter break and the other over summer, (and I still want to go to Thailand the 2nd half) but we have to make this happen fast cause I still haven't actually talked to a dr. since the results came and we'll probably switch to amarillo dr. for the surgeries.

Add on to the Rifle road trip

I finally remembered at least one of the things I knew I was forgetting. It's really random like three months later I know but we went bowling and I shot the best shot I ever will in my life.

The first shot ended with a split, I think 7-9 split. I decided it was hopeless so I practiced putting as much spin on the ball as I could which would normally end in a gutter ball. There was a lot of spin, but it was pretty slow, and it definitely bounced like 3 times. When I let go I knew it was at the wrong height and didn't see it I just heard it bounce. When I saw Rick and Salomon get kind of excited watching I thought they were just playing trying to get me to turn around, but I turned to see it slowly curve and hit the right side of the 9 pin at the perfect angle. The 9 pin flew into the 7 pin and I wish i had it on video.

Headed to Rifle Colorado...again

So me and Salomon made an epic road trip and we ended up staying in Rifle the whole time. It started out as a trip to california to see the cowboys. Then it was to vegas. Then half Rifle and Amarillo. Then we just stayed in Rifle. Here's some bullet points that I never want to forget:

- A nap every day

- 2000 miles added onto Salomon's car. Messed up my sleep schedule from so much driving. I had the lock-in Friday night, drove to OK at 10 saturday morning, left OK at 6PM and got to Rifle at 6AM Rifle time. That was the way there. On the way back I drove from 11AM Saturday till basically 2PM in college station Sunday, stopping only for a little for an hour of church and some eating, and seeing Kalena in Wichita.

- 5 complete round trips between Glenwood Springs and Rifle

- Waterworld on Wed, going for the lazy river record

- Paragliding and then another theme park with the swing over the cliff on Tues

- Skydiving on Friday

- Helping Alan remodel his home Thurs and a meteor shower that night

- A pretty intense Bible study Sunday night.

- walking into the Farr's house at 8AM without knocking when they thought we were getting there later

Headed to Rifle Colorado

We are at the hotel right now after finishing one day of driving, and one more day of driving to go. Every room of high school kids had to have an adult in the room, and I was the assigned adult to Garrett Sutton and Zach Stephenson's room. Zach and Garrett planned on waking up at 7:15, but I planned on waking up at about 7:45 or whenever both guys had finished showering. So when I got up the hotel clock said 7:45, but the guys were also just waking up so we were kind of in a hurry. I went to eat breakfast while they were getting ready, and the clock down in the lobby said 7:15, which turned out to be the real time. I now have a few extra minutes so might as well post.

We'll get to Rifle tonight, host their worship service tomorrow in which I'm preaching, then throughout the week host a VBS for the community. We've got 20 people going, and we made some pretty sweet stuff for the VBS, like a big boat thing out of cardboard and possibly the best ring toss game ever out of water bottles and cardboard and spray paint. I'll probly put pictures up later.

A New Era Has Begun

This is my third day in the office at church. I thought last night was awesome: I gave a presentation in the high school class about my Thailand trip, Bonnie, the other intern, taught the junior high, and afterwards there were hours of epic 9 vs. 9 volleyball games, with several subs in the rotation for each team. Basically get ready for a legendary summer

Here's a few things I'll be working on this summer:
- spend time everyday memorizing scripture
- spend time everyday studying some spanish

as far as interning with the youth group:
- I'll be working on the Rifle, colorado mission trip
- setting up JH and HS gym days
- camp Goddard (though I'm not 100% sure what I'll be doing in which camp)
- setting up Terrific Tuesdays where we do things with the JH like volunteer and go to Ranger games or Six flags each Tuesday
- basically getting everyone included and involved

My Easter Miracle

I thought I had a huge emergency tonight. I have a project due tomorrow. I've lost probably 20 hours of my life writting computer code for this project. When I was probably 30 minutes away from finishing, I hit "save as" randomly and saved over my file, just in case my computer froze or something . The only problem was, I had opened up another page before I saved, so that I saved this useless page over my whole project. This meant no sleep and rewriting everything tonight and probably an incomplete project to turn in tomorrow, until I figured out I had backed up the project a little earlier, so I didn't lose that much, and just finished with everything working! It was an Easter Miracle. Time to sleep

School controls my life

Woohooo! Just got a back 93 on my stability and control test, so I'm excited. Now I'm studying 72 hours straight for my Engineering math test on Thursday. And there's not really too much hw or projects due this week, so it should be hard to find time around assignments to study like it usually is.

Wednesday is kind of busy so I want to get studying done now. I'm getting something to eat with Morgan after her work at 5, then church, then playoff intermural mens basketball. I'm gonna try and get that moved though because lots of ppl on the team have a test on thursday to study for that bball would get in the way of.

yo yo yo postin on that blog of mine

Test tomorrow.

So mom and dad have accepted a job at a children's home in Amarillo and they're getting everything ready to sell the house. I think they will be awesome at it. They'll be in charge of like 8 kids, but those 8 kids will change because they're kind of like substitutes house parents. I think it might be hard sometimes, but i hope rewarding, and I hope it's a dream come true for dad to not have to have an office job. I'm proud to tell people about it and I hope they do well in what might be a thankless job. Or possibly they might get a lot of thanks but not from their paycheck.

As for me, just keeping school the main time commitment right now, doing RA stuff, and tryin to keep Nishadi from being mad at me. Not that she gets mad or anything, just I figure I can be a pretty frustrating person (:

Stoked

Trying to get everything done so I don't have to do any studying over the weekend. Of course David will probably need to but I can always find something to study. I am ready to be there right now! Also I think I got off duty in Mosher so Nishadi and I can stay how long we want Sunday night.

Too much to do

I gots two dorm meetings today, two hw assignments due tomorrow, and an intermural basketball game tonight that I am stoked about. conner, Micah, Jeremy, AJ, and Stephen on my team. Micah can dunk. It should be pretty fun, we're gonna run around a lot.

Morgan is having trouble sleeping, she looked so tired today, I am worried that she is not taking care of herself eating, sleeping wise, and right now she is running for her KINE 198 running class and she has a bad back.

I am trying to go see the Ayres this weekend, I have a lot to talk about with David. A lot has happened with my friends Lauren and Nishadi. I am a lot different person now. David and I used to progress through life similarly, but now different cities make me mad and different stages of life might possibly make it harder to relate, but maybe not.

I made a to-do list last week. It has only grown in the last 7 days. None of these are too urgent I guess, but here's a glimpse into the non-productive mood I am in:

buy 421 book, change printer ink cartridges, Thailand slideshow project, Summer work search, email professor for Mosher, change Aggie Ring size, 'look for my old class hw's and notes for conner's classes, take out trash, SEc application, replace laptop keyboard

Next Weekend

I am pretty bummed because it's David's birthday next weekend and he wanted to go to Guadalupe or whatever I forget the name, but it's hiking to the highest point in Texas. That would have been awesome. However, I had already made awesome plans because it is Lauren's 21st birthday and her and Nishadi's ringdunk that same weekend. David's group will get together to go hiking eventually.

This weekend the cowboys lost. I really hope the colts lose next weekend because they sat their starters against the Jets week 16. Only problem is that the Jets came from behind to win and would not have gotten in to the playoffs without that win. They really need to knock the colts out in the name of Karma.

School starts in less than 48 hours...

I'd rather give it to charity

Just watched Blood Diamond and it made me sad. What about diamonds are appealing? You can get fake diamonds for 10 bucks that look no different than 10,000$ diamonds. How nice would it be to find a girl who said this. When I hear that I will probably be willing to dish out 10,000$ for some diamonds for her. Even if a diamond isn't from a conflict area or anything, the monetary value of it is artificially created basically by monopoly.

Back in college station

Just got back today, and RA training kicked off right away. They keep us pretty busy, with training classes through out the day and leaving only the evenings and nights to actually prepare the dorm for the residents. I have to do a bulletin board and make some sort of door dec with the residents name on it for all 70 of them. and no hot water till more people get here.

bout to order my books and find out who's in town (:
